Surah At-Takathur

أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ﴿١﴾

Al haaku mut takathur

Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you

حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ﴿٢﴾

Hatta zurtumul-maqaabir

Until you visit the graveyards.

كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿٣﴾

Kalla sawfa ta'lamoon

No! You are going to know.

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿٤﴾

Thumma kalla sawfa ta'lamoon

Then no! You are going to know.

كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ﴿٥﴾

Kalla law ta'lamoona 'ilmal yaqeen

No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...

لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ﴿٦﴾

Latara-wun nal jaheem

You will surely see the Hellfire.

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ﴿٧﴾

Thumma latara wunnaha 'ainal yaqeen

Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.

ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ﴿٨﴾

Thumma latus alunna yauma-izin 'anin na'eem

Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.
